LED lighting will save £50 per lamp per year

Earlier this year, we were promoting the use of LED lights - handing out free LED bulbs at some locations in York. The savings possible when a lamp being used for 4 hours a day was £18 a day compared to older incandescent Tungsten lamps as shown on the image below.

These savings are magnified because of the new energy cap coming into force in October 2022 which are shown below.

Using these figures we worked out the cost of running just 1 lamp, depending on the type. This spreadsheet is shown below.

This shows that if just one incandescent light bulb is changed to an LED one, then from October 2022, the saving would nearly be a whopping £50.
